Refugee and Migrant Centre is a community based migrant support organisation in Wolverhampton. The organisation has 14 years of experience of providing free holistic support to migrants, including children via their parents, unaccompanied minors in cooperation with Social Services and young adults; in 2012/13 it supported 2500 individuals. RMC works from first arrival and frequently destitution through to integration into local communities and citizenship. It also offers independent advice to those considering Assisted Voluntary Return, supported by the Home Office. The organisation has around 60 volunteers and 15 members of staff, speaking over 30 languages.
This project will enable two caseworkers at RMC to provide advice and legal representation to young migrants in the Black Country, including health, education and immigration matters and return to country of origin. RMC will increase their legal capacity in house, in response to legal aid cuts, and continue to trial online communication with their clients and partners.
